Join us to discuss the scientific outcomes of one of the longer lasting industry/government and academia geoscience collaborations.
The University of Adelaide has been the foundation research provider for two successive Australian Research Council Linkage projects that have partnered with the NTGS and a range of Industry partners including Santos, Empire Energy, Origin, Teck Resources and BHP, with collaboration with CSIRO and both The University of Wollongong, the University of South Australia and Copenhagen University since 2016. We’ve graduated 3 PhD students and 16 Honours students over this time and have 3 more PhDs and 1 MPhil underway. We have published 36 papers in international journals and have 3 more in review. But more than this, we’ve developed an incredible working relationship with our government and industry partners, providing scientific studies with practical outcomes.
Come and hear some of the latest research on the mineral and energy resource powerhouse that is the greater McArthur Basin from the wild west Birrindudu Basin through the Beetaloo Sub-basin to the Tomkinon Province, the McArthur Basin sensu stricto and the South Nicholson Basin. Hear about how the basin formed, its tectonic geography and how the structure and water chemistry of the basin reveal what middle Proterozoic Australia was like! And perhaps more importantly, shed some light on why it contains so many resources…
